Williams (born November 4, 1936 in Newark, NJ) is an American poet who has created a highly respected body of work, including not only several collections of original poems but volumes of translations, editions of poem collections, a book of criticism, and a memoir. He received the Pulitizer Prize for poetry for his 2000 book repair. "March 25, 1982". Funded by a grant from the Scranton Area Foundation.
