General Note: | Elaine Terranova (born in 1939 in Philadelphia) is an American poet. Her first full-length collection, 1991's The Cult of the Right Hand, was chosen by Rita Dove as the winner of the 1990 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of Poets. Since the late 1970s, Susan Stewart (born March 15, 1952 in York, PA) has forged a dual writing career as a nonfiction writer and as a poet, as well as working as a university professor and literay critic. In 2005 Professor Stewart was elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. "November 19, 1981".
