General Note: | William Stanley Merwin (New York City, September 30, 1927) is an American poet who grew up in Scranton, PA. He is credited with over 30 books of poetry, translation and prose. Merwin had received many honors, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry (in both 1971 and 2009). In 2010, the Library of Congress named Merwin the seventeenth United State Poet Laureate. "October 12, 1983". Funded by a grant from the Scranton Area Foundation. Video recording of poetry reading held at the Everhart Museum. |
